Staff Spotlight: Jamie MutschlerFrom the Court to Compliance, A Career Full of Heart

At ACLS Academy, we’re fortunate to work alongside exceptional individuals who bring a unique blend of skill, energy, and life experience to our team. One such person is Jamie Mutschler, who joined us in 2024 and quickly became a vital part of our operations team at Lynch Medical Consulting (LMC), the registered AHA Training Center for ACLS Academy. From managing instructor schedules and compliance protocols to helping onboard students, Jamie’s contributions help ensure every course runs smoothly and every certification is properly earned.

But Jamie’s path to ACLS Academy was anything but conventional.

From the Court to Corporate

Jamie earned a full athletic scholarship to Boston College, where she majored in Communications and played Division I basketball for the Eagles. Her time as a student-athlete taught her discipline, time management, and perseverance—skills she would carry into every phase of her career. After graduating, she played two seasons in the National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL) out of Springfield, MA, all while launching her professional career at Reebok.

During her nearly decade-long tenure at Reebok, Jamie held a variety of roles in compliance, marketing, research, and eventually, product development and product management. She led merchandising efforts for major licensed sports categories, including the NFL and NBA, working on sideline gear, special event collections such as Breast Cancer Awareness, and high-profile partnerships with national retailers. That chapter of her life combined her love of sports with product creation and business strategy in a way that was both exciting and formative.

A Pivot to Purpose

In the years that followed, Jamie prioritized her growing family while staying connected to her community in various capacities, including Girl Scout Leader, town and AAU basketball coach, soccer coordinator, and co-chair of a Moms & Tots program.  She enjoyed contributing to positions that allowed flexibility and creativity. She even worked for a local hand-painted sign company owned by a former Reebok colleague, blending artistry with operational support.

Then in 2024, she joined ACLS Academy through a personal connection—Shelley Lynch, founder of LMC and ACLS Academy, knew Jamie from town and through their kids’ basketball teams. Shelley was looking for someone detail-oriented and organized to assist with scheduling, compliance, and student onboarding. Jamie checked all the boxes and quickly found herself immersed in a new kind of team.

“I love what Shelley and Chad have built,” Jamie says. “They’re doing something that matters—not just for nurses and doctors, but for anyone who finds themselves in a situation that requires quick thinking and a call to action. I was excited to be part of that.”

The Heart of Her Work

In her role at ACLS Academy, Jamie helps keep a fast-moving operation running efficiently. With three training locations, daily classes, and over 30 instructors—most of whom are full-time healthcare professionals—scheduling is no small feat. But Jamie thrives on details.

“Even if there’s only one student signed up, ACLS Academy makes sure the class happens,” she explains. “They don’t cancel. They are committed to making sure every provider stays certified so they can keep working.”

She also manages compliance, ensuring that instructors’ certifications and documentation are up to date with both ACLS Academy and the American Heart Association. Another key responsibility involves reconciling records between ACLS Academy and the AHA when students complete the online portion of their training elsewhere.

“This work may be behind the scenes,” Jamie says, “but it’s crucial to making sure students and instructors are properly certified and ready to do their jobs.”

Jamie has particularly enjoyed interacting with students and gaining a deeper understanding of how the training process works. One of her most memorable experiences was assisting with a large-scale training session for over 80 Physician Assistant students from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Hosted at the Quincy Marriott Conference Center, the event provided BLS and ACLS certifications in a single day. "It was so impressive to see how efficiently ACLS Academy handled the group while making sure every student received high-quality instruction and walked away certified," Jamie recalls.

Training for Life

Jamie is not just behind the desk—she’s also taken classes through ACLS Academy. Most recently, she completed the Heartsaver CPR/AED?Firat Aid course alongside the SHD Marketing team.

“As a mom and a coach, I’ve taken different life-saving courses over the years, whether it was when I had a newborn or was coaching youth sports,” she says. “But doing it again recently reminded me just how critical this training is—not only for professionals, but for anyone in the community.”

Family First, Always

Jamie and her husband are the proud parents of four children, ranging from elementary school to college. Sports remain a big part of their family life—her daughter just completed her freshman year at Villanova as a soccer goalie, and her sons are immersed in basketball, soccer and track.

“It’s busy; all the time, every day,” she admits. “But it’s SO rewarding to be part of their journeys and stay connected to the sports and activities they love."

Whether she’s managing instructor rosters or drawing up basketball plays, Jamie brings the same core values: teamwork, adaptability, and heart.

Advice on Career Pivots

Jamie’s journey from professional sports to product development to healthcare education wasn’t linear, but that’s what makes it inspiring. Her advice to others looking to pivot?

“Find people you connect with. Shelley and Chad are amazing to work for—they’re always available, responsive, and genuinely committed to their mission. It’s important to work somewhere that feels aligned with your values.”

She also believes in moving at your own pace: “You don’t have to dive into a full-time role to make a meaningful contribution. It’s okay to ease in and find your rhythm.”

Words to Live By

Jamie often shares a quote with her kids and teams, one that she lives by herself. It comes from Kara Lawson, head coach of Duke Women’s Basketball:

“Handle hard better. It’s supposed to be hard. Life is hard. School is hard. Basketball is hard. Everything is hard. But we do it anyway. The people who succeed are the ones who handle hard well.”

Jamie Mutschler embodies that mindset. And we at ACLS Academy are lucky to have her on our team.
