ACLS Academy Earns Fourth AHA Training Center Certification with PALS
ACLS Academy has reached another remarkable milestone! We are thrilled to announce that we have earned our fourth American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center certification—this time for Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). This achievement follows our previous certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS). This recognition is a testament to our dedication to providing top-tier medical education and ensuring that healthcare professionals receive the highest level of training in life-saving interventions.
Why PALS Certification Matters
PALS training is essential for healthcare providers who care for critically ill or injured infants and children. Pediatric emergencies require specialized skills, and PALS equips medical professionals with the ability to recognize distress, intervene effectively, and improve patient outcomes. The training emphasizes:
Systematic pediatric assessment approaches
Effective resuscitation techniques
Management of respiratory and circulatory emergencies
High-functioning team dynamics in pediatric emergencies
As an AHA-certified Training Center for PALS, ACLS Academy can now expand its reach and train even more providers in these critical skills, reinforcing our mission to improve emergency pediatric care across the healthcare spectrum.
The Road to Certification: Dedication and Excellence
There are seemingly endless American Heart Association (AHA) training sites, but only a select few can use the title of AHA Training Center. The American Heart Association has established a fleet of Training Centers (TCs) to help deliver the Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) educational courses. This fleet of TCs helps strengthen the Chain of Survival by monitoring the proper administration and quality of the ECC Course under which they’re aligned.
AHA Training Centers are certified businesses that work closely with the American Heart Association to provide the utmost care and education when teaching others American Heart Association courses. They must adhere to rigorous guidelines and maintain integrity in their business practices while facilitating quality education.
The rigorous audit process for PALS TC certification required ACLS Academy to demonstrate a high level of instructional quality, adherence to AHA standards, and the ability to train over 450 PALS students within a calendar year. Passing this assessment required exceptional teamwork, and we extend special thanks to Shelley Lynch and Jenna Kennally, whose leadership and meticulous management ensured a smooth and successful audit.
As an AHA Training Center, ACLS Academy is responsible for managing many moving pieces some of which include:
Providing our Training Sites and instructors with timely communication of any new or updated information about the TC
Regional or National procedures
Course content
Policies
Course administration that could affect an instructor while carrying out his or her responsibilities
Expanding Our Impact
With the addition of PALS certification, ACLS Academy now offers a comprehensive suite of AHA Training Center-certified courses, allowing us to support healthcare professionals across various disciplines further. This expansion enhances our ability to:
Provide high-quality, standardized training in BLS, ACLS, ASLS, and PALS
Support 15 AHA Training Sites and 183+ instructors under our Training Center umbrella
Ensure that life-saving education is accessible to hospitals, clinics, and emergency medical providers throughout the region.
We take immense pride in equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and confidence to respond to emergencies with precision and expertise.
Strengthening Pediatric Emergency Preparedness: The Vital Role of PALS Training
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
Unintentional injuries remain a leading cause of death among children in the U.S.
Effective emergency response and resuscitation significantly improve survival rates.
Immediate and high-quality intervention can drastically reduce long-term complications.
These statistics highlight the critical need for well-trained professionals, including paramedics, emergency physicians, nurses, and pediatricians, who must be prepared to handle life-threatening pediatric emergencies. PALS training ensures that a wide range of healthcare providers—including those in hospital emergency departments, urgent care centers, and pre-hospital settings—are equipped with the skills to act decisively and provide the best possible outcomes for young patients. The training is also beneficial for school nurses, respiratory therapists, and any healthcare professional who may encounter pediatric emergencies in their practice. PALS training ensures that providers are prepared and proactive in recognizing early warning signs and responding appropriately to pediatric distress situations.
As we celebrate our fourth AHA Training Center certification, we look forward to continuing to make a lasting impact on medical education and patient outcomes. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this incredible journey—here’s to many more milestones ahead!
